The Skype phone has arrived

When I first joined Wolfstar, a new PR and marketing agency that specialises in the realm of social media and the wonderful world of web 2.0, my director Stuart Bruce asked me to set up Skype onto my computer. As a 1990’s child, I was brought up on MSN messenger and was unfamiliar with this new way of sending instant messages to colleagues and friends, but in no time I was whizzing messages around the office like a true pro.

I didn’t realise how big Skype actually was, mainly as I currently only have 5 contacts in my friends list but I have evidently been missing out as 3 have launched the new Skype phone. Stuart and I have had the privilege of getting our hands on two of these little mobiles for a month’s free trial. I have just managed to set it up, install my sim card and now I’m raring to go (particularly because my current mobile is a rather brick-like shaped thing that freezes every time you send a message!). I will report back on my findings! Watch this space…

Beth, your phone looks great but let me know how the service was in different places. I would also be interested to know if you can do video skypeing between the phones, like you can do on laptops and webcams.
